Alexis Malfesi is a Senior Project Manager at Discern Health. Alexis works with clients across the health care industry, including life sciences companies, nonprofit advocacy organizations, professional membership societies, and health plans. She develops business strategies to position clients for success in value-based environments and assesses the quality and performance measure landscape to identify gaps and areas for growth.
Alexis’ recent work at Discern includes developing policy briefs assessing the implications of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services rulemaking on Accountable Care Organizations and other health care stakeholders. She has also conducted a mixed methods evaluation to identify best practices to improve advance care planning across the US.
Before joining Discern, Alexis was a consultant at The Lewin Group, where she led the development and ongoing maintenance of clinical quality measures used in outpatient hospital settings. She also collaborated with clinicians, administrators, and patients and caregivers to design and implement a national practice transformation program aimed at supporting clinicians in entering Alternative Payment Models. Previously, she was a Public Health Analyst at NORC, where she informed strategic communications planning for the rollout of Star Ratings on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services suite of Compare tools. Alexis received her MSHS in Health Care Quality from George Washington University and her BA in Anthropology at the University of Maryland.
