CMS’s Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) took a 10 year look back for key lessons learned, challenges encountered, and what a strategy refresh would need to incorporate. The strategy refresh includes five strategic objectives that expects models that would continue or to be introduced to be driving accountable care, advancing health equity, supporting innovation, addressing affordability, and partnering to transform the system. While these are not novel ideas, CMMI provides provider and beneficiary goals within each objective to ensure that CMMI is working more closely with those most directly impacted by the models.
Discern Health has been following these models through the various fits and starts for the last ten years and has helped clients navigate the issues and challenges that CMMI and partners have had in advancing value-based care. Real Chemistry and the Discern team will continue to be at the nexus of that system transformation.
