Discern Health Assesses Viability of Obesity Performance Measures
July 2019
Over the past year, Discern Health, in partnership with the American Medical Group Association and in parallel with the Obesity Care Model Collaborative (OCMC), has been engaged in an initiative to assess the viability of a subset of the OCMC measures for consideration as performance measures. Discern will determine whether the measures are viable to submit to the National Quality Forum (NQF) for endorsement.
Part of this assessment included a public comment period facilitated by NQF. The comment period, which closed on July 12, solicited more than 70 responses from quality and obesity care industry leaders. Public comments revealed overall support for the development of measures to improve the quality of care received by individuals with obesity. In addition to the comment period, Discern is using reliability and validity testing and targeted feedback from experts to assess the viability of the measures.
