Manasi Tirodkar Investigates Patient-Centered Oncology Care
December 2020
Discern Health Director Manasi Tirodkar recently co-authored two articles that investigate the implementation of a patient-centered oncology care model and standards.
- In the American Journal of Managed Care article, “Patient-Centered Oncology Care: Impact on Utilization, Patient Experiences, and Quality,” Manasi and team determine whether the implementation of patient-centered oncology standards in five medical oncology practices improved patient experiences and quality and reduced emergency department and hospital use.
- In the JCO Oncology Practice article, “Facilitators and Barriers to Implementing a Patient-Centered Oncology Care Model,” Manasi and colleagues discuss their pilot of a new set of oncology medical home standards that call for accessible, continuous, coordinated, and team-based care. They examine how adoption of the standards varies across a variety of practices and compare practice self-reporting with external evaluation of implementation.
